Not for pain from posture or overuse — a physiotherapist can assess that directly. Numbness, weakness, pain radiating down a leg or arm, pain after an accident, or a fever alongside it should see a doctor first to find the cause.
Sessions run 45–60 minutes, the first one longer for the assessment. Acute problems usually improve in 3–6 sessions; long-standing ones may take 8–12. The therapist sets out a plan after the first visit, and a course package costs less per session.
Clothes you can move in that leave the painful area reachable — shorts for a knee, a vest top for a shoulder. Bring any X-ray or MRI results and a list of medicines you take. No fasting is needed.
